This comprehensive VHF Radio Course provides essential knowledge and practical skills for operating VHF radios, a critical tool for maritime communication. The course begins with an Introduction to VHF Radios, covering basic radio theory and the concept of line of sight communication. You’ll learn about subsidiary equipment, common radio terms, and the regulations and licensing requirements necessary for operating VHF radios.
Participants will gain hands-on experience with VHF radio equipment, learning proper radio procedures for transmitting and receiving messages. The course includes the phonetic alphabet, crucial for clear communication, and detailed training on emergency radio communications, including the use of EPIRB (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons) and SART (Search and Rescue Transponders).
Additionally, the course covers handheld short-range VHF radios, ensuring participants are prepared for various scenarios on the water. By the end of this course, you’ll be confident in operating VHF radios, managing emergency communications, and complying with all relevant regulations.
