IYT Master of Yacht Limited 200tn Sail Practical

Course Overview:

The IYT Worldwide Master of Yachts Limited Practical Course is an immersive, hands-on training program tailored for experienced yacht operators. This course equips candidates with the practical skills needed to command yachts up to 200 gross tons, whether power or sail, and operate them up to 150 nautical miles offshore.

Course Components:

  • Live Aboard Training: A five-day intensive course covering essential seamanship skills, command, and situational awareness, all in a real-world environment aboard a yacht.
  • Final Examination: Day 6 a comprehensive oral and practical test conducted onboard, assessing your readiness to command.

Minimum Entry Requirements:

  • Age: Must be 18 years or older.
  • VHF Radio Operators Certificate: Must hold a Marine Communications VHF-SRC Radio Operators certificate.
  • STCW Certificates: Valid Basic STCW certificates are required.
  • Sea Time: The Master of Yachts Limited endorsement requires 50 days of sea time for each category. For the Master of Yachts Limited Power endorsement, candidates must complete 3,000 nautical miles (nm), with at least 50% (1,500 nm) of their required sea time on a power yacht at sea. Similarly, for the Master of Yachts Limited Sail endorsement, candidates need 3,000 nm of sea time, with at least 50% (1,500 nm) of the required sea time on a sailing yacht. For the combined Master of Yachts Limited Power & Sail endorsement, candidates must accumulate 3,000 nm, with 50% (1,500 nm) on a power yacht and the remaining 50% (1,500 nm) on a sailing yacht. Additionally, all endorsements require a minimum of 30 night hours at sea.

Qualified Positions:

  • Master: Qualified to command vessels up to 200 tons, up to 150 nautical miles offshore.
  • Chief Mate: Eligible to serve as Chief Mate on 500-ton vessels up to 150 nautical miles offshore or 200-ton vessels on all oceans.
  • Officer of the Watch (OOW): Certified to serve as OOW on 500-ton vessels across all oceans.

Certification:

  • Upon completion, candidates receive the IYT Master of Yachts Limited Certificate.
  • To obtain both power and sail certifications, separate examinations on each type of vessel are required.

Special Considerations:

  • Ensure all documentation is verified and submitted on time.
  • Due to MCA regulations, candidates with color blindness cannot be certified.
