Live Aboard Monohull Sailing Course

Our Live Aboard Monohull Sailing Course provides an immersive, hands-on learning experience, perfect for those eager to enhance their sailing knowledge and skills while living aboard a traditional monohull yacht. Monohulls offer a classic sailing experience, renowned for their performance, responsiveness, and deep connection with the sea. This course is ideal for beginners and intermediate sailors looking to gain valuable experience navigating the open waters.

Throughout the week, you’ll learn to sail and live aboard, discovering the nuances of monohull handling. The course will cover everything from daily sailing drills to onboard living, including meal preparation and teamwork. You’ll sail through beautiful Caribbean waters, anchoring in scenic bays and experiencing life at sea first-hand.

Liveaboard Certifications:

At the end of the live aboard program, you will receive the following certifications:

IYT Day Skipper Certification

This certification equips you with the skills to confidently take charge of a sailing vessel. You’ll learn essential knowledge, including:

  • Navigation
  • Boat handling
  • Seamanship
  • Safety procedures

With this certification, you’ll be capable of skippering short passages and small yacht charters in familiar waters during daylight hours.

IYT Bareboat Skipper Certification

Building on the foundation of the Day Skipper certification, the Bareboat Skipper course advances your sailing expertise. You will enhance your skills in:

  • Navigation in unfamiliar waters
  • Leadership and crew management
  • Boat handling on monohulls or catamarans

This certification allows you to confidently skipper yachts on extended voyages, making you eligible to charter a yacht independently. Completing the Day Skipper certification is a prerequisite for the Bareboat Skipper qualification.

VHF Radio Operator License

The VHF Radio Operator license certifies you to legally operate a VHF marine radio, which is essential for safe communication at sea. This course covers:

  • Radio operation protocols
  • Emergency procedures
  • International maritime communication regulations

A VHF license ensures you can communicate effectively with other vessels, marinas, and emergency services, improving safety during all your voyages.
