The SCV Code Engineering Course is a comprehensive training program designed to prepare marine engineers to work on small commercial vessels under the SCV Code in the Caribbean. It covers essential topics such as engine systems, maintenance, and safety protocols for vessels up to 24 meters in length.
This course is ideal for those holding the Boat Master Level 1 & 2 Certificates of Competency, as well as professionals aiming to work as engineers on small commercial vessels operating in coastal waters with engines up to 750 KW.
To enroll, you must be at least 16 years old, hold Boat Master Level 1 & 2 Certificates, have a valid medical fitness certificate, and have STCW 2010 Basic Safety Training certificates. While not mandatory, experience with boats powered by engines over 100 KW is recommended.
Upon successful completion, you will receive the "Boat Engineer Grade 1 Certificate of Attendance." This certification can be submitted to the Sint Maarten Maritime Authority to obtain your "Boat Engineer License Grade 1."
